Communication with the ONS
InternetSat offers high-availability data and voice communication services for connecting power plants and substations to the ONS's regional operation centers.
The National Electric System Operator (ONS) is the body responsible for coordinating and controlling the operation of electricity generation and transmission facilities in the National Interconnected System (SIN) and for planning the operation of the country's isolated systems. The concession model defined by ONS for dispatched substations and power plants considers communication with these as one of the most sensitive points of operation. Therefore, regulations require these agents to connect to Regional Centers for real-time dispatch through two redundant sites (links), called: Local Data Acquisition System (SAL) and Remote Data Acquisition System (SAR). They must provide 99.98% availability and also be on non-collapsed paths (routes), that is, completely distinct paths. This concern is justified, since it is through data and voice transmission that the body relies on to dispatch and control the National Interconnected System 24 hours a day.
